Stephen Mulkey

(Lead Editor and Author)


Dr. Stephen Mulkey is an Associate Professor in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, a Research Associate in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation, and Chair of the People and Land Use Strategies Faculty Workgroup. His current research interests include: sustainable land use, Carbon mitigation in forestsry and agriculture, tropical conservation, botany, and ecology.

Janaki Alavalapati


Dr. Janaki Alavalapati is a UF Research Foundation Professor and an Associate Professor of Forest Resource Economics and Policy with the School of Forest Resources and Conservation (SFRC). His current research focuses on economics and policy of biodiversity and sustainable forestry, environmental services, protected areas management, wildland urban interface, invasive species, biomass and bioenergy, and agroforestry.

Sabine Grunwald


Dr. Sabine Grunwald is an Associate Professor of Soil and Water Science. Her current research interests include soil-landscape modeling (pedometrics) and quantitative assessments of environmental quality (envrionmetrics). She is currently researching how ecosystem services provided by multi-functional watersheds/landscapes are affected by the type, intensity, and spatial arrangement of land use as well as underlying environmental landscape properties (e.g. soils, topography, land cover and geology).

Alan Hodges


Dr. Alan Hodges is an Associate Professor of Food and Resource Economics. His current research interests include regional economic impact analysis, market survey research, environmental horticulture, and biomass energy. His current research projects include: the economics of carbon sequestration in agriculture and forestry; economic impacts of the environmental horticulture industry in Florida (2005 update); socioeconomic impacts of Melaleuca in South Florida; development of wood power in the southeast U.S.; economic analysis of best management practices for cow-calf operations in Florida; weed control in organic vegetable production; evaluation of environmental services of agricultural and rural lands in Florida; and

Ann C. Wilkie


Dr. Wilkie is an Associate Professor of Soil and Water Science in UF’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Dr. Wilkie has worked extensively with the Florida dairy industry to develop sustainable solutions to the problems of dairy manure management and handling. Her current research focuses on sustainable livestock waste management technology for odor control, energy production, nutrient recovery and water quality improvement. She is the inventor of the fixed-film anaerobic digester for treating large volumes of dilute, low-strength wastewaters such as flushed dairy manure.
