SNRE Undergraduate Student Council

The SNRE Student Council is an organization that focuses on the academic and professional development of students interested in natural resources and the environment. We aim to engage the Gator Nation and surrounding community on important environmental issues and promote sustainability with knowledgeable guest speakers, outings, and community service projects. We have attended the GREEN Generation Environmental Youth Summit and held a river clean up on the Santa Fe. The SNRE Student Council is an open group, welcoming students of any major with a passion for the environment. There’s also no wrong time to get involved! Check out our Facebook page or sign up for updates by joining our group on Gator Connect.

Meet the council's officers:

Justin - President

Justin is a third-year environmental science major with an interest in human dimensions of environmental interactions. He enjoys exploring Gainesville's various nature parks and trails on the weekend. His goal in the SNRE Student Council is to make a positive impact on the Gainesville community by organizing events to tackle environmental issues.

Kevin - Vice President

Kevin is a third-year environmental science major with an interest in plant science. He enjoys hiking, playing ping pong, and going to the gym. His goal in the SNRE Student Council is to grow the club by introducing students through his position as a SNRE Liaison.

Romario - Treasurer

Romario is a second-year mathematics major pursuing a dual degree with environmental science. He is interested in the mathematical fields of logic and model theory but also in applied environmental fields such as ecology and hydrology. He enjoys watching soccer, listening to music, and learning new things. In the future, he hopes to work in a technical field pertaining to the environment and potentially pursue graduate study in mathematics.

Amanda - Historian

Amanda is a second-year elementary education major with a minor in sustainability studies. She is interested in integrating the two and hopes to one day work with children in an outdoor education program, helping them gain more love and appreciation for the wonderful, yet fragile natural world. Whether it is hiking, camping, walking her dog, or playing sports, she loves spending her time outside. She also enjoys scrapbooking and making collages and is looking forward to do so for SNRE-SC.

Rachel - Secretary

Rachel is a senior environmental science student pursuing a dual degree in international studies with a focus in Asia. She enjoys learning about other cultures and their impacts on the environment, and is hoping to work towards international environmental cooperation after graduation.

Gabrielle - Volunteer Chair

Gabrille is a second-year environmental engineering major with a minor in soil and water sciences. She is interested in project management for water resource designs. She enjoys hiking and going to the gym. She also loves the beach and any reason to be outside. She hopes to collaborate with other on-campus organizations to find new volunteer opportunities.
